About Word & Prayer Fellowship

Rather than experiment with the Christian Faith and inaugurate change, it is always best to look backward and see what stood the test of the centuries.  Since the traditional Faith (based only on God’s Word) has alone succeeded, it is our goal as a fellowship to return to this Faith — and to the extent that God will enable us — become a New Testament, Book of Acts church.

When we consider all of the methods that were ever employed to achieve contentment in Christ and victory through Him, we discover that time has honored none more highly than prayer and the study of God’s Word.  They are an integral part of a very beautiful sequence that can be outlined as follows:

For a Christian to grow up in Christ (Eph. 4:15), he must have a relationship with Christ, and since all relationships are built on communication, this makes prayer and Bible reading essential for the Christian.  When he prays, he talks to God, and when he reads the Bible, God talks to him.  The more he engages in these, the closer he draws to Jesus.  This intimacy with Jesus will result in him becoming more triumphant in his sacred and secular duties and, ultimately, more pleasing to God.

Church is good for the Christian!  The Bible says: Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching (Heb. 10:23-25).
